SHIZUOKA —
A 26-year-old woman and her 6-month-old daughter were killed Sunday night when the car they were traveling in collided head-on with a truck in Oyama, Shizuoka Prefecture.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on National Route 246. Fuji TV reported that the car was being driven by Maki Seino, 26. In the front passenger seat was her 4-year-old son Kento, while her 6-month-old daughter Mei was in the back seat. The 60-year-old driver of the truck received light injuries.
Seino and her two children were taken to hospital with severe internal injuries. Police said Maki and her daughter were pronounced dead while Kento remains in a serious condition.
Police said Monday they had not yet determined how the accident happened.
